Important Announcement on Waivers of the Interview Requirement for Certain Nonimmigrant Visas For USA
The US State Department, in consultation with the Department of Homeland Security, has authorized consular officers to waive the in-person visa interview requirement through the end of 2022 for certain temporary employment non-immigrant visa applicants who have a petition approved by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
The US Visa embassy will Waive the visa interview for certain students, professors, research scholars, short-term scholars, or specialists (F, M, and academic J visa applicants) through the end of 2022.
One change to the previous policy is that applicants eligible for the waiver authority(citizens or nationals of a VWP participating country) must have previously traveled to the United States using an authorization obtained via ESTA to qualify.

Eligibility rules for Visa Interview waiver
- Students with any type of previous Visa (Tourist, Visitor, etc.) are eligible.
- People who have never been denied a visa unless such refusal was waived.
- People who have no apparent ineligibility or potential ineligibility (Funds etc.).
How to apply for US Visa
- Step 1: Fill and submit the DS-160 form, take a printout of it and save it for your reference.
- Step 2: Create an account on US travel docs & Follow the steps to schedule an interview. Answer the questions carefully.
- Step 3: Pay the visa application fee of $160 on US travel docs.
- Step 4: If you qualify for an interview waiver, you will be able to select the post that will process your renewal application and the date on which you will submit your application. Once you have chosen a date to drop off your application, you will receive an appointment confirmation page containing a document checklist. Print one copy of the appointment confirmation page. Drop off your passport along with the listed documents(as mentioned below) mentioned on the submission letter at one of the service centers designated on your letter on your scheduled drop-off date.

- Your current or most recent visa
- One copy of the appointment confirmation page
- One photograph taken within the last six months. In the vast majority of cases, YOU MAY NOT SUBMIT THE SAME PHOTOGRAPH THAT APPEARED ON YOUR LAST VISA. Failure to submit a valid photograph will delay the processing of your case.
- Supporting documentation in original and one photocopy required for your Visa Type
- Children applying through interview waiver should submit photocopies of their parents’ valid visas and passport bio page.

- Step 5: Appear at the visa application center at your scheduled interview waiver drop-off date between 10 is to 4 pm with the listed documents.
- Step 6: Applicants will receive a decision on their case within seven to ten business days from when their documents are submitted.
